Everybody is uncomfortable. It’s an uncomfortable conversation but I can assure you that the black people in the room are assuming way more risk given how few of them there likely are and how petty their colleagues will be as a result of their discomfort.

Could you go to your manager's manager or straight to HR to discuss? You should not be forced to share your experiences if that makes you uncomfortable. You have enough to deal with.

why do almost all companies keep stressing "dont be afraid to ask questions!" and go goo goo ga ga when you say that you're curious and ask a lot of questions but when you start working seniors will start getting annoyed with you and can't be bothered to answer said questions? In my office we have a very small number of black people. I don’t know the exact numbers but it doesn’t seem like more than 10. All of them I know >3 are on a personal improvement plan for very basic reasons. One faced blatant racism and was placed off the project. Therefore it was harder for this person to find a new project. How to investigate if this is correlates with microagressions and discrimination towards black people? Any ideas? How to convince non POC that this is a problem?

In my school periods are 42 minutes long. By the time kids arrive to class and get settled, I have 38 on-task minutes, at best. It is impossible to get through the curriculum without leaving most kids in the dust so we pick and choose which standards to emphasize and which are expendable. Comment where you are cutting back to save money. Here are ours:
- Not doing a presidential suite, instead we’re getting a normal suite and using a conference room for hair/makeup/meals
- Centerpieces. We are doing a few bigger centerpieces, then small bud vases at the rest of the tables.
