She’s also into QAnon stuff, I assume?
There’s no reasoning with someone that deep into insanity, OP.

My friend’s mom also believes this and is also into QA.
I have not heard of poison, but I’ve heard in passing that some think the Q-tip swab has chemicals or something on it that can harm your nose. After first hearing that I actually asked when I got a test and was assured nothing is on the q-tip and it didn’t seem like there was either.
lol I mean the theory is obviously bs but if it were true, I doubt the person giving you the poison would admit it
No but there was a nurse that did brain damage jabbing too hard. Probably a mutation of that idiocy in the news.
Thankfully you can get saliva tests now.
Can’t you use your own cotton swab if you can your own medical grade individually wrapped swab? I have a bunch of at home rapid tests and I feel like the cotton swab can be swapped out with your own. The chemical and the test strip seem like the unique features of the test you couldn’t bring your own of.

Unless you have medical grade cotton that's sterile, the answer is no. In fact if you use a regular cotton ball your probably more likely to deposit a pathogen or random chemicals in your nasal passage.
Good lord. Where does this craziness end?
Jeez. Those folks must have some dirty ears then, since I'm assuming qtips also cause deafness. 🙄
You can get a spit test 🤷🏼♀️
Lol yes my future MIL and FIL. They said if tests are required for our wedding this spring (in NY so very possible test or vax could be required) then they will not come to the wedding and will be devastated

Best advice I have heard is to allow them their beliefs while continuing to be loving and welcoming of them as a person. Don’t try to change their minds, but you also don’t have to let them spout their nonsense with an open mind yourself.
But a lot of people who think like this actually see fighting, confrontation, and their banishment from the family as further evidence that their ideas are right. By continuing to love and accept them, separating their beliefs from them as a person, is a tiny chink in the armor of their beliefs that can possibly allow them to come back someday.
Give her some facts that she can go off of. Statistics always help.
