I’ve always been familiar with commissions and bonuses being taxed pretty high (Esp if they are so large they drive you into a new tax bracket) but I would consult with your accountant

like

This has happened to me before. Unfortunately the burden is on you to make sure the right amount is taken out of your check. There's nothing you can do but pay it.

like

Bonus payroll is taxed at 46% in NY

There is no retribution, the responsibility lies with the individual to be withholding the appropriate amount for taxes and not the company. This happens for everyone who makes commissions or bonuses - supplemental income has a 25% withholding requirement. Bottom line - the company is not responsible, the employee is.

Due to a recent company-wide increase and additional pay for bilingual direct reports I am only making a dollar and change above them as their supervisor. Any suggestions on how this might be addressed?

I’m a first year lateraling to another firm. I got offered a full year end bonus as the signing bonus. Since the market is hot, I was wondering if I can get a separate signing bonus but the recruiter says that no first years get a separate signing bonus and asking for more would be risky. Is this true?

It was always work. Work work work work. That's the reason I left. But I can use more money. I'm at a standstill and have no idea what to do. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Hi all, I have an offer to move from MBB Dubai to a well branded Big Tech in a biz ops role in London. Key considerations:
+ break into Big Tech
+ be part of regional CEO's chief of staff team
+ specialize in a field I am passionate about
+ move to London
- 50% net pay cut
- limited predictability on career progression vs consulting
- role is one seniority level below the one I can get (I was told by the hiring manager)

Go or no go? And why? Thank you all!

Here’s a weird question for the MBB folks - how competitive would you say you guys are, internally? I think people at ACN arent not competitive but most of us generally do want to help each other succeed. Meanwhile, I’ve heard there’s some particularly sharp elbows in MBB, especially toward the EMs…would you guys say this is true? Curious how cut throat the internal mentality is.
