NYC? DM me we are hiring big time this quarter- especially SAE
Reach out to people you’ve worked with in the past that are at different agencies. It’s much easier to land an offer if you are coming through as a referral. It helps build your credibility.
Ya same here. Just competitive in NYC I guess. There is always someone with the exact experience that worked on a competitor brand or something
Ask someone you trust in a senior or HR position to interview you, and take it seriously like a real interview. Tell them you want an honest review afterwards. See if there's anything you can improve in the interview setting itself.
Took me two months to land a NYC role after quitting my last job. Shot out 30+ resumes and chatted with ~10 firms on the phone. Moved on to in person for five. It's tough, but hang in there. Try making ur status on LinkedIn "ok for recruiters to contact me." I also use Monster and Indeed. Otherwise - I would Google the companies I'm interested in and search their careers section.
Same (LA).
I'm going on three months in NYC. 100+ applications. 9 interviews. No luck so far.
Take it from years of experience...recruiters, eh it’s hit or miss...LinkedIn jobs or Glassdoor, conversions to actually getting hired are low due to volume of applicants....leverage your peers and your network. 14 years across 6 agencies...ALL of my jumps have been via colleagues/peeps in my network. #reallyisallaboutrelationships
NYC market
Same. I’m in Detroit and this has hindered my all year
Realize that HR is often interviewing ahead of an open position. The job may not get funded or approved regardless of what they say. Big Agencies are the worst. Be aware of the time windows when hiring goes through - spring and summer are easiest, if they’ve had a big Q1 win. First and End of year is emergency backfill only (unexpected quitters).
Ask for feedback ... learn what’s going wrong...
