✋✋✋ New to it this year but I just couldn’t keep calorie counting while on the road. It made me miserable and as I’ve figured out IE, I’ve actually been making way better choices holistically.
Did you have specific questions?
I was just about to ask about drinking since they haven’t brought it up yet during the book!! That’s good to know.
Thanks- I think I just have to ignore the social pressure. Easy to do with my current team but my last would question and pressure me when I didn’t want to go out or ate something light. Thanks!!
👋🏻 pregnant IE here. After many years of counting calories, macros, low carb, keto, etc. None of them were effective for me and I found myself obsessing over every little thing I ate or drank. I got tired of feeling guilty and hungry all the time. IE is the only thing that works for me and I find that I naturally fast for around 14-16 hours with IE. I feel full, but never too full and completely satisfied (as long as you listen to your queues). Your body knows how to take care of itself. Trust it.
I used Intuitive Eating to help me recover from my eating disorder. For me, it was life changing!
In my opinion, IE only works if you have always been a relatively healthy weight for your entire life. For example, if you were once really obese (like myself) it’s hard to IE because your leptin levels are much higher than an average person’s. Leptin is essentially what controls your hunger and is the middle man b/w your brain and your stomach. The fatter you are, the more leptin resistant you are.
With that said, I counted calories for a while especially during my weight loss journey / bodybuilding journey and you can’t do it forever. I used to weigh 430 and now weigh around 230 (with a considerable amount of muscle). I’m no expert but always down to discuss nutrition with any of you, especially topic like these if you need help
A big question I had is how to avoid chaotic eating on the road. Living in a hotel and not having access to a kitchen (sometimes not even a microwave), I find myself getting really hungry and then overeating when I finally have access to food. Is this simply a mindset thing or do you have any strategies that may help (ie packing snacks, eating at times you want and not just when your coworkers also eat)
I find that if I start my day with a good food decision that I enjoy (I.e., yogurt + granola + banana) I both feel better all day and I’m inclined to make better decisions.
What books, websites, or resources have those of you who follow IE used to learn?
I’m currently reading ‘Intuitive Eating- A Revolutionary Program That Works” which seems to be the main book/resource.
