Where do I find more cool, little production companies like these guys? Kinda quirky, super creative, nothing really looks or feels like advertising. Want a place good with Docu-style but also these shots look a bit art directed, (in a good way). I want to give my team more options in this vein: https://www.cottage8films.com
Yes, they are. I think there was a period when they were doing what you are suggesting and it bit them in the ass. The inexperienced producers cost agencies and vendors $$$$. I think agencies have a new found respect for those who are experienced and can get the job done especially when the creatives often have no experience either. You get what you pay for. I have often been asked to “be the adult in the room”.
I don’t think someone producing for 2 years should call themselves senior. I think maybe after 10 you earn that. You learn people skills, negotiating skills, and how to handle difficult and unprecedented production issues over time. The time factor is also why you probably have a vast network of resources and hopefully great work that you were entrusted to produce for people you have built relationships with over time.
EP1 there are many Sr Producers in the industry with less than 5yrs exp. The last HoP I worked with at a leading Production shop is 29 and only 7yrs out of college. Thats why you see dozens of young peeps on FB expecting to be promoted every year at their review. it’s made titles meaningless in this industry.
these days Sr Producers can have 2-20 yrs of exp. titles no longer represent level of mastery so dont mean much anymore. its all
about your portfolio, network and if you will accept the project rate/salary.
If these people are Senior Producers, I guess I’m Yoda. He’s like 900 years old. “Fear leads to changes. Changes lead to overages. Overages lead to hate."
CL1- now that you’ve explained that the term “senior” is used way too loosely, I think we are saying the same thing in different ways.
Yes, we are.
Thanks
Agreed!
CL1 💯 agree
