Is anyone in general just disappointed with the state of the world with covid? I feel like we’re sorta back to square one and I’ll never get the work travel perks again

Yes, and stayed in a hotel for the first time in 17 months last night and if was horrible. I'm not sure I can go back to hotel mattresses and pillows and loud air conditioning making the room either hot or cold but never that in between comfortable like at home.

I am so tired of these posts. We get it. We all are frustrated.

as a former consultant and now a buyer of professional services, that's a no from me dog. unless there is specific needs to be onsite, and since so much of our staff is remote, I can't imagine signing up for any onsite visits.

Yes, our clients are not going to bring us in to their facilities when they themselves are working remotely from home.

I seriously think consultant travel lifestyle is gone forever. Even if covid gets under control in a couple of years, large portions of our clients are permanently going to work from home.

Consultants travel life is over for 90% of us. I'm going to downgrade my Amex Platinum.

I'm colossally disappointed in how things are going but travel perks and benefits are probably at the utter bottom of the list.

I agree. Ugh. Small steps and trying to stay upbeat, but I’m just so resigned.

Hi All. I am currently working in TCS and pursuing my PGP in Data Science and Business Analytics from Great Learning. I don't know much about job opportunities. I love travelling and some of my friends travel to different countries for a short stint (1-2y) for work. Is there any job/company that would be allow me to travel often (to different countries) as a Data Scientist/Analyst? Sorry if the question sounds dumb. Thanks in advance!

5 weeks ago I told my boss we need to start working on a “we’re open again” spot. She basically called me blind for not seeing that the Covid crisis was nowhere near finished and then accused me of not having enough work to do. This morning at 6 am she texted me - “Need you to kick off a ‘we’re open again’ spot with the agency. Tell them they have 1.5 weeks to stand it up.”

I have to travel to my client every week and the client’s office is attached to a very nice hotel that’s $250 per night. There’s a hotel right across the street that’s $150 per night.. it’s alright, but not as great. Should I be mindful about how much I’m spending or should I blow up the budget until someone says something?

Do folks have trusted/valuable resources for researching luxury family travel with young kids? I don’t care the cost, I want to know what is most convenient and nice for my family. Feel like generally most resources are geared to either a) families on a budget (I don’t care which hotel is best bang for buck w/mid breakfast) or b) couples / adults only travelers. Do folks just stick to true five star hotel concierges for help? Do folks just book luxury tours like A&K? How do folks research?

Majority of my department has been informed we will need to look for other positions internally due to our jobs being outsourced. The timeframe for the full transition of all work to the vendors is approximately 6 months. This is the second time in 14 months I have had to look for another position due to outsourcing of work. Since I can only work remotely for my company due to location, is it best to resign or to hold out in hopes for a transition to another department?
