Is anyone knowledgeable of investment banks in Chicago? I’m trying to understand which IBs are “better” than my T2 strategy firm in case I wanted to jump

OP - totally a fair trade IMO

I came from finance and have seen both sides. I think it’s a natural pull. I was in NYC so have less Chicago knowledge but Chicago is mostly middle market. I’d say from what I know the best firms here are
Goldman
William Blair
Houlihan
Citi
JPM

Your best bet would be a middle market shop (or William Blair). Bulge bracket banks’ circle of influence is all in NYC but any of the above would be good.

Set you up nicely to make the jump in 1 year to a solid MM PE shop

helpful

Would have gone to a company direct

OP, what do you mean by better? What are you trying to achieve?

I think you are looking at it for the wrong reasons, and playing a dangerous game that will leave you always unfulfilled. If you want to move away from consulting into banking because of specific things you’d get to do on the job makes sense, if it is for “prestige” I feel you will never find it (after IB will be PE, then a larger PE and you will be always chasing)

Hey, I’m a recent electrical engineer grad who currently is working full time for about 3 months. My goal is to get to work in a top tech company (Microsoft, ibm, Amazon,…etc). I don’t have the coding background that is required for software roles. Anyone knows what are the best noncoding roles to go for in these companies that relate to my major and what to recommend doing. Thank you!

My current firm requires me to declare any additional jobs (moonlighting). For about 10 years prior to joining this firm, I had provided ad-hoc advice to a group of friends who were quite successful in the entertainment industry. This advice is regarding a completely separate industry and area from any professional advisory services I provide through my firm - the two couldn’t be more unrelated. When I started at this firm, I told my friends I couldn’t accept payment anymore and left it at that

Crossposted. Looking for advice. I’ve got 10+ years as an attorney and have been trying to go in house for over a year. I have a generalist background (although I’m primarily a litigator) and was a partner at an Amlaw 100 firm. I’ve had my resume reviewed and keep getting great feedback. Not getting many interviews and when I do, I’m not getting offers despite positive interviews. How do I differentiate myself? Should I get some sort of certification or specialty? This is getting depressing.

Currently job hunting. I know a few retired C-level executives who tell me that they would hire me at the director level in pretty much any role (despite currently being an individual contributor) because I'm extremely driven, a life-long learner, a natural leader, and deeply educated in diverse fields (PhD in engineering and MBA in analytics). However, I can't seem to land a senior role. How do I convince an executive to take a gamble on me based on my past success and strong future potential?

I have a period of time (~2 years) where I worked multiple part time jobs. One job was with a FAANG so that’s easy to put on my resume. But the others included a couple non profits (mainly digital marketing), then multiple contracts with clients doing things like business development, APIs, websites, etc. How can I combine these “side gigs” under a single title/experience? Business Consultant? Say I ran a consulting agency? Business Dev Engineer? I’m lost. I don’t want to embellish or undermine.

I feel like I am done in the US. Not sure if this is a phase. The last time I went through this was last year. Since having hit 30, last July, I want to not just have a well-paying job but want to make sure I am having some real impact in the world. I understand that this is a privileged concept but I don’t want to hit 60 and feel this way because I feel like if I continue on the path I am on, my only impact will be helping rich people get richer. Is there a way to treat this as an experimental

I was told by the technical team that HR will be calling for salary Negotiations and asked me to upload all the documents in iBegin.I uploaded all the required documents and still its not verified. it’s been almost 1 month,I haven’t received any phone calls or email from TCS. Does this mean the position is on hold or I’m rejected. Usually how long is the process Thanks in advance.
