Is anyone noticing a trend toward offering part-time or contract roles to reduce risk/cost of bringing on full-time talent?

Yes, but depending on roles, contract workers often can cost significantly more from an hourly rate perspective to offset cost of benefits etc... I saw the same thing happen coming out of the 2007/2008 recession...2010/2011 many more companies were doing more contract/contract-to-hire based roles and that slowly started to shift to more permanent positions. There will always be individuals who prefer the contract side, but hard to keep good people who want permanent work if you’re only open to bringing someone on from a contract perspective.

Hi, Consulting Moms! I need advice - I am leaving industry to return to consulting. I have offers from KPMG and Deloitte, and we are looking to start a family ASAP (we have been actively trying and I have a feeling it would be just my luck to start a new job and find out I’m pregnant). Would love your insight around personal experience with hours per week, work-life balance, culture, etc. Offers are same level/role/scope (Change Management / Transformation / Human Capital) and same salary. TY!
