Is anyone struggling with time boundaries while WFH? Since we’re all stuck home, everyone seems to think we’re willing to continue having meetings past 6/7pm and emailing until even later

I’ve worked past 10pm every day since this last Sunday. Yes, Sunday.

It’s really tough times all around. Keep getting back up, and hang in there as best you can. Hopefully this will all be over for us soon.

Boundaries are definitely appropriate. Just because we’re all locked inside doesn’t mean there aren’t other things that need my attention or that I want to do.

like

Exactly. A lot of us have families to take care of that we’ve had to neglect during regular work hours. But now that work hours are all the time, where does it end?

like

Yes, I’m being asked to attend 10 and 11pm internal meetings for no critical reason.

God this sounds like a nightmare. Decline that invite!

The SM on my project feels WFH means working 24*7. After a week of late night meetings that could have been an email, no longer taking calls from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.

like

I would even extend that block further, no one at work should be calling you at 7am!

like

Maybe people with kids wasting time during the day? Block that time off man. Don’t even bother explaining why. None of their business. Or you could just start working later in the morning too. That’s how I handle west coast peeps.

like

Blocked the time but no one cares. Everyone’s excuse is that we’re “not doing anything anyway” so there’s no excuse to not be on the call. And sadly my meetings start at 9am...feeling very over burnt.

Had a call last Sunday. Boundaries are dead

I know I’m still working 12 hour days

Back in the day, I did my own PR, sales & marketing for whatever business idea I was running with at the time. What’s a good remote sales opportunity I can do anywhere in the world that won’t be painful or too high touch? Where I can use my social & business skills (markets, law, cloud, publishing, media, logistics, algos, social media, books, ebooks, design, podcasting, marketing, press release writing, voiceover, journalism) to earn a few extra shillings?

In the past two weeks my work has picked up 10x what it was previously. Now I’m working 70+ hr weeks and often my projects are submitted nearly before deadline since I’m shuffling multiple at once. My team is understaffed and there’s no plan to hire people due to COVID-19. How do you manage to tackle the day instead of let it tackle you? I feel like no one knows how much I’m suffering since I’m WFH’ing and try to relay positive emotions over FaceTime or messages.

Anyone just getting tired of their partner on a whole new level with WFH? I feel like we are getting into spats more, I'm getting more resentful of the lack of even workloads/effort, and to top it all off these tensions are literally invading my personal space! Not looking for advice really. Just wondering if anyone else is feeling partner fatigue more now than the Before Times.
