Would it be inappropriate to email the would-be manager directly about a position update?

I heard from the recruiter in early June but after a month now no new updates after telling me another recruiter would reach out soon. 2 voicemails and an email, no response.

I interviewed for the position back in March so I have met him. The company instituted a hiring freeze soon after which lifted June 1. I'm just unsure what to do besides wait at this point.

Had an interview today and the interviewer asked “what’s been your biggest set back?” I kind of blanked out and said that moving to the remote method of working was challenging for me because I do well in person collaboration. I am worried this was not a good answer. Thoughts 😥

Does anyone on here recommend making a switch from law to policy work? Is that looked down upon in the energy law space or is there some rewarding features of utilizing one’s JD in the policy space? I’ve been interviewing for policy roles and am really passionate about clean energy policy. Currently fully remote as a contractor. Managers are super flexible & understanding. They’re interested in my interests and catering to them. I’ve been interviewing passively and I’m in the final stage at another company. Both companies are great, stable, seem like great teammates. The other company is hybrid and 3x’s in office. Currently have a 5th grade girl who is struggling with classroom behaviors and choices. When questioned, she says she wants to be a boy, but her parents won’t allow it. Does anyone who lives with their SO sleep in a separate bed? Mine snores and gets up to pee, but the worst is the constant tossing and turning all night. The bed shakes and it wakes me up, it’s torture. The thought of never getting a good night’s sleep again really stresses me out. I think separate beds close together would solve this issue. I tried to think of a good reason for sleeping in the same bed and I honestly can’t. If you’re asleep anyway, does it really matter?

Can’t tell if I’m depressed or just completely burnt out. Anyone else getting sick of covid hype and restrictions? Worst pandemic in a century? Its bad, but definitely overhyped like everything else these days. Less than 1M people globally have died from covid. Spanish flu killed nearly 19M globally and didn’t even have close to the amount of restrictions that have been placed on us for covid. Ridiculous. Covid was bad in the early days, but it’s burning itself out. Even cdc changed its guidelines to say that asymptotic people dont need to get tested.
