Is anyone working ‘summer hours’? Working by 8pm everyday even after busy season is so depressing. I feel like I have no life outside of work.

I know this his hard to do but you need to set boundaries. Prioritize including personal goals and to-dos in your day. And know work will be there the next day. Take it day by day. And if you need to push deadlines inform the team (unless they are critical deadlines they should understand). My WLB as improved since I started to shift my priorities s

KPMG 1! I’ve been there and trust me it will just hurt you. I ended up extremely burned out and my mental health was very bad. I cried and checkout out of work for 5 days.

You’ve said it yourself. You’ll end up doing the work yourself anyway. So take on step at a time. Take it day by day. It’s not worth your health. If you really feel the deadlines are tight continue to communicate that you need help non-stop and it’s on them if the deadlines are not met. Just ensure to email and cc partners, get many involved.

If you continue your same ways you’ll end up cutting your experience short and quit. Trust me 😩

I'm in audit and was struggling with this a lot. Feeling pressured to stay online late even though "busy season" is over but the whole team is still online. I started having to remind myself that we are just auditors and we are not saving lives. If I log off at 530-6 instead of 8 that work will still be there waiting for tomorrow (obviously different if there is a big deadline). Remember - Individuals are not responsible for the company's lack of resource planning and them being understaffed.

Yes, but I’m in tax. One of the reasons I left audit is because of the moving deadlines and constant busy season because nobody wants to work on audit or national office says we should do more testing or change our approach to get to the same conclusion. They need to start paying people more on audit or it will be extremely difficult in the future.

I am. For me the off season never came, but for everyone else in the office it sure did.

You won’t have a life in PA

I’ve been working over 100 hrs a week 😅

Hello everyone! Due to visa issues I will transfer from the US to another Bain office and was considering Dubai. How is WLB (amount of hours)? How flexible is the expense policy? Is it actually fun to be there? Thanks in advance!

Moved to industry recently, so pretty new. I usually log off around 5-5:30 most days, as does most of my dev team & manager. But, others in my role (functional) on other teams are online until 9pm, usually working 12 hr days. I’m worried that this will be like consulting all over again as I get more plugged in to the work 😭 this is a research & analytics firm on east coast btw. They do have lots of deployments and business on the west coast - but hoping it’s not the norm.

I just spoke with a software architect that went back to school to learn software engineering after law school because it was more lucrative and had less hours. He’s worked his way up and has the skills and authority to work 6:30am-10am and gets to work remotely. We discussed that results/outputs is better than billable time like in law and public accounting. Yet, his parents and others would view him as “lazy” but he does his job and makes a fantastic living. Time>Money and Results>Hours

I’m currently a Manager of events but am looking to change careers. My experience is solely in hospitality, food and beverage and events. This of course translates well to customer service but I’m tired. Anyone move on from a career in hospitality and events, and what did you move on to? A complete career change seems scary but I’m thinking it’s necessary at this point.

I set up an interview last week with a company for tomorrow morning, two 45 minute interviews back to back. Of course, today I heard back from my current company I would be getting a raise after having pay frozen since May. Unless it was a very very very good offer, I’m not sure I see myself leaving anymore. The interview is at 8:30 tomorrow morning - what would you in my position? I don’t want to break the connection with this company as I don’t want to have to rule them out in the future
