I found my current job by applying online. I think it also depends on the company, some are more reliant on online apps vs others who just post it online to be transparent but don’t have any intention of hiring through that channel
I can confirm the latter
Making connections is also important. Try to get people to refer you. Or have casual conversations. Sometimes the best jobs aren’t even officially posted.
I’ve had success using linkedin. Upgraded to premium (turned on the actively applying feature) and various recruiters reached out to me, try that if you already haven’t, good luck!
So spend the time mining your network and developing relationships with headhunters instead.
Same here just keep applying
You may want to have someone look over your applications. In this current market it’s crazy that you don’t get any traction. Also, referrals are often the necessary stepping stone. So you may want to also review your overall approach. What exactly are you looking for in terms of roles and industry?
I applied online for lateral
I applied to Deloitte and got called 2 weeks later. Must be because I have right skills
Go to career fairs in your city.
My friend in recruiting uses LinkedIn a lot to find qualified people for the roles she’s filling which are usually highly visible with the board. Deloitte found me on LinkedIn. I’ve taken calls with recruiters who have reached out via LinkedIn and referred them to friends I knew would be a better fit.
If you’re not developing advocates who can refer you, you’re doing it wrong. Takes time and patience.
I got the most responses by applying through the listings on Dice and Glassdoor. LinkedIn is good for recruiters to find you but the job listings on there are useless.
I’ve gotten hits from applying on LinkedIn. But it’s more effective to find ppl in your network at the company you want to work for, reach out and chat with them, then ask them to refer you or get the recruiters name to the posting you want
I got a recruiter to work with me. They normally have access to the listings I’m interested in and my application goes straight to a phone interview. Found applying to things online, I would get a response back 1 out of 30 applications
I’ve found smaller companies/startups are more responsive to cold online applications, while big ones just have too many to shift through so they go on connections.
I’ve also submitted 50+ apps. My success has been from jobs with less than 10 applications and in the 1st week. Recruiters are key too
FYI: I’ve had 2 interviews from the 50 apps
Are you sure your resume is attention grabbing and tailored to the roles you are applying to? If you don’t have key words in your resume that match the job req, then you better have top schools or employers to make up for it
