Is Avalon in back bay or prudential worth the price tag? Any recs for nice apartments with doorman, fitness, maybe even in-unit w/d in Back Bay/South End? Looking for studios $2.5k. Coming from nyc, I see that Boston isn’t much different in rent 🤮

Yeah I initially searched for soft budget of $2.5k, but it seems like I will have to give up some amenities or go up to $3k. I’d really like a doorman to receive packages and handle possible emergencies since I’m on the road M-Th, and just peace of mind for a solo living female.

Not with Bain, but have lived in Boston for a long time. I’ve never had a doorman, and don’t get the “necessity”. I don’t know if that’s just cause it’s not as common in Boston compared to NYC or not. But, plenty more options if you’re willing to look at non-doorman places, OP!

Also take advantage of Bain paying your broker’s fee with this first move! Looked into managed buildings, but brownstones ended up making more sense for me: more affordable and closer to the office but no doorman or gym. As someone else mentioned, most people get packages shipped to the office and collect them on Friday, which makes no doorman less of an issue.

You can get a lot nicer apartments for the price with the full amenities - game room, swimming pool, b-ball court etc. if you look beyond back bay. Alewife, Fenway , assembly row ( these can all take you to back Bay Area in 15-25 mins on the T ) .

Got a fab condo in the leather district from this site. Really recommend a landlord over a managed property.

Twenty20 in Cambridge is within your budget and has all the amenities you’re looking for. Pretty quick commute into Boston and the airport. Dm me if you’re interested. They have a referral bonus that I’m happy to split.

The Avalon in back bay/pru are older, so the price tag is primarily due to location. For buildings with doorman rentals, not sure you’ll find too many in BB/SE, but tons of options in assembly, on the orange line so easy to commute in.

It’ll be tough to find $2.5K studios in doorman buildings in the Back Bay area; I think they’re generally pricier. There are a few buildings in South End near Washington that are a bit cheaper and full service, but I don’t love the area / commute to transportation hubs. I might recommend a nice brownstone in South End and just sign up for a local gym like Equinox, Healthworks if woman, or Classpass studios. There are a ton of them in the area. Downtown has more price friendly options for doorman buildings, but I much prefer living in Back Bay/South End... Back Bay is comparable to the more fun spots in Manhattan for rent. I’m heading to NYC so feel the pain 😅

Hello future fellow Bainie! Brownstone in south end or back bay is the way to go. You'll be close for tons of social stuff that happens and there is an equinox in Bain's building so it's super easy. 4 showers in Bain's office and there are never more than two people using them!

One Back Bay is pretty great but studios run like $3k last I checked

Agreed the immediate area of OBB is a bit corporate, but it’s walkable to both Newbury St and South End bars which is pretty nice. Not many places offer access to both. That being said you need to negotiate sticker price as it’s a bit over priced

Try 28 Exeter, great location. Otherwise closer towards Chinatown/downtown crossing has several options that are a 15 minute walk (AVA theatre district)

Depending on your move-in date (if it’s 9/1 or later), look into The Smith. It’s a brand new building and they’re running a 1.5 mo free promo for the first year, which would make a studio well within the $2.5k range. It will go up after a year when the promo runs out, but tons of perks that make it worth it (including a gorgeous rooftop pool)

I’d look into one greenway. Really good location and I think near your price range. I live in this building and love it

My confidence is very low today. I’m the only female on the team and when I ask my SM for help he says “this is your job” and I just need some uplifting. 😑
