Is banking industry dying and taken over by tech?

All I know is apparently 10 years ago our fees used to be $10 a bond. Now they’re more like $1.50 a bond.

Yes - definitely traditional banking like savings / checking accounts and mortgages / loans

Then yes to S&T to a degree. Definite no to IBD.

Seems they were late to the meeting innovation train. They are getting onboard now…late, but probably not too late for a lot of them.

Feel like no one can rly take over investment banking since it’s heavily regulated

More like suffering due to lack of resource and snail's pace turning into tech

Depends on the context. Traditional consumer banking, yes. Overtaken by small fintech banks with no fees and many other perks to serve as a one-stop shop. Even some small business banking is starting to transition. IB, AM, and S&T? Not as much. IB and S&T are definitely too transactional and need the human component, although tech can enhance the work (mainly S&T). AM may run more in automation but a lot of these robo advisors are still investing in qualitative-driven funds. WM is getting hit, but on the low net worth clients that just put money in the robo advisors. HNW and UHNW still want and need the human component that automation can’t provide.

OP — yes, agree with VP1. They’ll still be kicking it. The big money centers are too essential for the economy. I wouldn’t expect to see a machine that facilitates M&A with just a couple inputs or that calculates the potential synergies, etc. Possible? Yeah. But how reliable? Not saying the bankers are super reliable either (they’re trying to close business, not help clients) but they provide more sense of security than a machine.

Yes but it'll be a slow decline. Your career is prob fine but I'm advising my future children to do tech

The soft skills/relationships in banking is purely a business development tactic for future deal flow in their pipeline (or connections for new jobs).

Can anyone recommend a good moving company? I’m moving out of my 1bd apt in NYC to Nashville, and the quotes I’ve been getting are astronomical.

I've had 5 no-shows to video interviews for a recruiter position. It's a full-time time, salaried , 100% remote role. I have 8 other corporate roles and not experiencing this. Any tips or ideas? I send interview reminders, send a follow-up email/text after the no show to make sure they are ok. I haven't heard back from anyone. So odd.

If you exit at the senior consultant level with 2-4 years experience, making in the 85-95k range, what are your exit options looking like in industry generally and what could the pay be? Generally looking in the DC - Baltimore area and trying to gauge what an exit could look like at that time.

Any negotiation tips for new graduates? Haven’t been able to find much information on salaries and fear I will receive a low offer for associate roles.

This post is part rant/part request for advice. I am a relatively new partner (title on this app has not updated yet) in a male dominated practice. I am only the second woman partner in my practice at my firm, ever, and it has been around for a while. Having dealt with various issues navigating my way towards partnership, I’m very involved in mentoring younger attorneys and particularly women. I recently heard that a young woman associate in my practice group told others I am not (cont.)

Has anyone got a relatively straightforward plug and play Excel template they use to generate plan on a page using start and end dates for activity that updates coloured bars and adjusts accordingly on an excel sheet? I've switched to semi-fasting on fly days to combat any damage from the week. One day of sticking to fruits/veg and yogurt doesn't hurt.
