Is being junior just constantly being wrong, being the last to know things, and reaching out to managers for guidance with no response (and annoyance when they do)? Paying your dues sucks

Best advice anyone ever gave me when I was first starting out is to have confidence. Junior staff are so scared to produce something without having 5 other people check their work. It's annoying having someone ask questions without thinking (yes there are dumb questions), and doing it string method (going back and forth, one more question, oh one more question).

When given a task, go back and think about it before asking questions. Formulate a list of clear, concise questions and take notes when someone is explaining them. Then go back and do the work, and deliver confidently. If you end up being wrong, then own it and improve the next time.

Depends on your team. They don’t have to make you feel like that - that’s their bad management and under-appreciation. Paying your dues means doing lots of work on small things no-one else wants to do and being grateful. But it shouldn’t mean any of the other stuff you mentioned.

Can you talk to your Account Director? Frame it as wanting their advice, rather than a complaint. Get time in their calendar. When you chat, say you want to know how you can add value to the team, but you’re not sure of their expectations as you’re not getting a lot of feedback or support when you contribute.

Thissss is very smart, thank you CD (CDs always know what to do:)

That’s what it seems like so far. You need to know how to navigate uncertainty and produce work items on your own knowing you may get tons of feedback (or being “wrong”)

Advice needed: how do I tell my boss my team sucks? I switched jobs about 4 months ago and while I like my new clients and my manager, our team is the most unprofessional, unreliable, & incapable group of people I’ve ever worked with. I feel like I’m being set up for failure & clients aren’t very happy. How do I talk to my boss about this?

What’s the consensus on tattoos in the insurance workplace? I’m in leadership and considering exploring my options due to recent personnel changes. I work remote and have arm sleeves, and any time I would be in-person I’d of course wear a long sleeve shirt to be professional, but worry about a cuff rolling up and tattoos being somewhat visible. Nothing is offensive by any means.

One day she left the grill on. Etc. There was another manager there training to run another store and she said I basically do a lot of the work while she doesn't do much. So she stood up for me.

Did you ever had this feeling of not fitting in? People (including non-legal staff) in my team just ignore me. I know I made some mistakes, but resenting a trainee for that reason seems unfair. People were referring to funny stories on cases we’re working on and that I never heard about.

I recently took a job with a top tier investment manager, which is a step up in title and responsibilities. I went through the typical “notice” conversations with my current employer. My boss, who was a significant supporter and mentor of me during my time at my current firm, told me that he doesn’t think my new firm is “long term” for me. Anyone ever get something like this before? It threw me off because I was hoping for his support, understanding that it’s tough for him temporarily

California litigators, what methods have you come up with for easy compliance with CCP 2031.280(a)? It’s fine with a relatively contained document production and limited number of requests. But when there are thousands of responsive documents to dozens of overlapping RFPs, with some documents responsive to more than one request, it quickly turns into a huge pain in the ass.
