I don't know if this is true for you, but sometimes the focus on positivity can turn toxic. Sometimes things are just bad, and no amount of reframing is going to change that. Gratitude is absolutely important and helpful, but so is feeling your feelings and acknowledging things for what they are.
This is very true! I spent 6 months trying to force positivity in midst of illness, family loss, and dealing with challenging and debilitating workplace. OP: The only thing that worked for me was working with a therapist, and it took me almost a year to feel grateful and positive about life. Also, gardening (my version of growing small plants in my tiny apartment terrace) really cheered me up, specially when I started seeing the baby tomatoes ripening. Hang in there OP! DM please if we can help anyways...
Whenever I feel like that, I try to log what I’m grateful for each day. Set a goal like to write down 2 things you’re grateful for at the beginning of the day. Really helps shift your mindset.
No advice, just confirming that I’m really struggling with being positive as well. Although there are things that objectively I should be thankful for, I really am suffering in many other ways, and I can’t just BE positive.

Yes. My boyfriend said I am too negative, especially with thigs that are out of control. I’ve had a very poor professional experience the past 1.5 years and can’t help that when I spend 80% of my life working and don’t like what I’m doing and everything I try to do doesn’t improve the situation, I can’t help that I am realistic and pessimistic about my situation. I have tried seeing the positive out of everything I go through so I don’t seem to negative but it is a challenge.
Therapy helps me. CBT especially. And meds.
