I’d go with Yellowstone instead
Any word on what yellowrock or yellowwater do?
For PE, Blackstone is far and away the most prestigious and highest paying firm.
From second-hand experience, it’s also an unbelievably brutal place to work - e.g., know people who worked consecutive 130+ hr weeks; common for people to have mental breakdowns; people will go to the bathroom just to sleep; etc.
Virtually nobody who works there is over 40 as well because the pace of work barely slows even as an MD.
MDs are still going to be working 5+ hrs on Christmas Day, unable to take off time for family weddings, etc.
Maybe you’re cut out for it, but I’d think LOOOONNNG and hard about how badly you want to get paid.
Don’t have to. But I know for a fact it does (or at least has) happened from more than one direct source.
Blackrock for IB, Blackstone for PE, Blackwater if you want to kill somebody
Blackrock is the finance giant. Blackstone is the giant defense sector contractor (mercenary soldiers, etc.), if I remember correctly.
Hang on I'm adding my own
Blackstone
My cousin works at the Firestone downtown, he could refer you
Blackwater hands down
Have you heard of treadstone? Heard it’s a great place to work and great training.
Rock 🪨 > Stone
Mentor
Blackstone, by a lot!
Mentor
You gotta go to Whiterock, BC
Coach
Both
Depends on what you want to do lol
Both are good!
@OP, good question. Let’s focus on the question behind the question - you’re asking if you should go with a traditional (BlackRock) or alternative (Blackstone) asset manager. Short answer: it depends.
Disclaimer: Based in-house at a publicly traded asset manager
How’s Blackrock’s PE team? (I think we all know blackstone is good)
Bridgestone is the one you want. Or was it Bridgewater?
Whitestone or Whitefire?
On a serious note, Blackstone partners spilt away to form blackrock. I have heard Rock is far better - better bonus, benefits etc. not sure about the work culture! Obviously, rock is 50% larger than Stone in market cap!
