They don’t always get radio spins unless they’re collabing with a prominent Western artist, but most of their English songs are pretty recognizable to people here and have performed extremely well on charts despite the lack of Western promotion. It’s crazy how deep the love for them from their fan base flows despite how wide ranging and diverse their following is. It seems like all the “good” they promote (writing their own lyrics about mental health, artistry, politics; doing work with the UN & UNICEF; etc.) really sets them apart in the long run, so it makes it easy for people to get into them regardless of taste in music.
Yes
But you know... Target demographics
They're had more songs hit americas top 40/whatever than any other group from Korea. Maybe your grandma doesn't know them but there is more cultural influence than ever before.
They’re popular enough that most people know them by name. I listen to them because I simply listen to a lot of k-music in general.
Very
I however do not listen
BTL is very popular in the US.
Their fans are next level. They performed on SNL in 2019 and I was working near there - people were camping on the streets (in March!!) for literally days to try to get the last minute tickets into the show to see them.
It has a very dedicated fan base but I wouldn’t say it’s popular. Most people I know don’t listen to them and maybe half know their name (26 yr / female).

Yes they are really popular with the demo that is into young boy bands aka my younger sisters. I do not listen
Yes! I’d say under 35-ish y/o though
