Great article in Harvard Business Review a few years ago about Chief of Staff role. It can be anything from a glorified EA to practically C-Suite. Look it up.
I believe what I’ve read on here is that it totally depends on if the role is more admin vs strategic advisor / support.
Curious myself!
It really depends. Good CoS roles are a great pathway to executive leadership, you’ll solve really cool problems and build a great network. On the other hand, a bad CoS role could just be a glorified admin assistant.
Ideally, you would have a working relationship with the executive that you’ll be supporting so you have some confidence in what projects you’ll be helping. If not, really ask a lot of questions before committing to the role would be my advice
Thanks all! This is helpful
