Don't take work too seriously. A company that seems too disorganized would not have time for you at the end of the day. I would focus more on your self-development and direct your career as you want to.
Agreed! I think you're right about the meaning and what's going on in the company, but you have to rely more on yourself than the structure that your job can give you. That's giving them too much power!
I was just recently in a very similar situation. Ended up giving minimum effort at work and spent my free time exploring the feasibility of a startup idea and thinking about what I really wanted to do in life. It finally gave me plenty of time to prepare for McK interviews which is now my next step after just 8 mts.
But completely agree with P1, ambiguity can also be something positive as there will likely be routes to climb at an extraordinary rate provided you believe in the firm and have the soft skills.
Let’s unpack that.
First, sometimes. Sometimes it’s just the firm communicating that they want someone who’s able to make progress in the absence of clear or consistent direction. Sounds like at your firm it was more what you described though and that’s unfortunate.
Second, ambiguous structures can work for you. Use your down time to study. Have your CFA already? Sounds like you’ve got lots of study hours available if not.
Third, yeah. If you had to boil the soft skills of elite military and diplomatic personnel into a single phrase — that would be it.
Smart play. I would milk that CFA funding first if I was you. GL.
In my experience, yes, that’s exactly what it means. I got out of that company as quickly as possible.
You can also put it that way. Don't stress yourself too much. A lot of companies are also unorganized.
