Is COVID being used as a blanket statement across companies to cover discrimination...

What...

like

If you are a 50 year old woman who gets laid off, how do you know it was because you are a 50 year old woman?? You're the one that's brainwashed OP. You are lucky that the rest of the world requires evidence to take these allegations of discrimination seriously.

like

How so?

like

Wait. Layoffs are racist now too?

like

Where did you get racist? She said she was a 50 year old woman... that = minority. Doesn’t mean of color. 50 year old with a disabled kid to be exact.

like

I highly doubt their criteria for laying her off was “female”, “over 50”, and “child with special needs”.

like

OP it happens during layoffs because low performing POC practitioners are really hard to get rid of during normal times due to lawsuit threats. POCs get laid off at higher rates during layoffs anywhere, but that’s because they should have been let go before and weren’t and lawsuits are useless during layoffs.

Also CYA for me cause ik someone will come for me: Not all POCs are low performing nor are they more or less likely to underperform than other races, just stating how employers navigate employment law.

like

So then OP must have dozens of POC friends that have personally experienced this? Or just had a thought in their brain that sounded like it made sense so posted it as a fact?

Against anti maskers?

To get rid of workers easily.

Sounds like the actual issue is she wasn't providing value commmensurate with her salary (i.e., she was overpaid for what she did).

Yes , it’s happening to me

You planning on offering any color commentary on this?

If you’re trying to get pregnant, do you start avoiding certain foods/altering your diet/drink even BEFORE you do get pregos? My fear is that as we’re trying, I’ll get pregnant and realize that my diet/drinking wasn’t quite ideal. I read a few articles saying it’s not a big deal, but curious to hear your thoughts. TIA!

I am 5-week pregnant. I just realized I should avoid liver at all costs because of the high level of vitamin a in it. Many countries actually specifically advised against it. However, I had quite some liver in the last three weeks. Omg. What should I do! I am very worried my baby would have birth deficits.

Disclaimer: I know I should talk to a doctor and I’ve talked to 2. Looking for anecdotal info now. Anyone continuously testing negative even though they’re pretty sure they have Covid? I’m vaxxed and boosted and was exposed to someone for 30 min who now has Covid. I have a sore throat. Can’t imagine it’s anything other than Covid (although I spent the entire weekend outside getting cold so could be a head cold I suppose) but all 6 tests (PCR included) are negative. So weird

Audit Partners — Do you see longterm profitability of audit in general? Is it going to be worth being a partner, financially, given the risk you take on, in 10-15 years? With audit bids increasingly being driven way down by competition, & lower level resources demanding (much) higher pay than it was historically, I’m not convinced the partner track is still as enticing as it was pre-Covid. Seems like the job market/higher staff pay alone has GOT to be taking a huge cut into partner pay.

Hi Fishes,

My colleague's younger sister is looking for a job as a fresher. She has recently graduated (B.com) and is pursuing US CMA. She's also done a couple of internships and is highly proactive and motivated. The family has been struggling to meet the ends specially due to Covid Pandemic.

Tried applying via Naukri and LinkedIn but there's hardly any response.
Can someone please refer her in their organization for a relevant role for a B.Com graduate. DM me for more details.

Thought I’d share an amazing nugget I got from my therapist this week about how anxiety and depression is also tied to our nervous system. We tend to move up and down throughout these different stages within our nervous system, tied to physical symptoms of anxiety/depression. If you’re struggling with treatment resistant mental health issues, or just in general, Google “Vagus Nerve Exercise”. It helps reset your nervous system. Hope this can help someone else too!

What's your favorite BBQ / rib place in Boston? We've had amazing takeout from The Smoke Shop in the Seaport during Covid lockdown. The ribs are pure heaven and the chicken wings are also amazing. The only complaint is that they no longer have collard greens and they charge you for extra bbq sauce, which seems pretty chintzy when you're dropping $50-70 on food.
