Where do I find more cool, little production companies like these guys? Kinda quirky, super creative, nothing really looks or feels like advertising. Want a place good with Docu-style but also these shots look a bit art directed, (in a good way). I want to give my team more options in this vein: https://www.cottage8films.com
AD-ID everything but I don’t slate Social. Just label by AD-ID title. No one that needs the social file wants it with a slate or any black. Just the video tip to tails. And yes, make Generics for everything!
SLATE AND ISCI (or Ad-ID) everything. I’m so obsessive about it but you gotta be able to track assets. Make unslated if client demands it but have the code in the file name.
As said by others, I used to slate everything but now moved on to slating only 16x9 files. Add ISCIs to the filenames by starting with them. And generics for all films. And no need to make a unique ISCI if the file is the same, just different extension. Only if the actual film has a difference within it or within the aspect ratio/mix/titles etc.
We only slate our broadcast 16x9 edits, we just isci our social files in the file name. It’d way too much hassle to separately slate each 1x1, 9x16, 4x5, or 2x3 deliverable.
We don't slate social, but it would probably help. There's always someone on the team that doesn't understand how to read a filename. Timelines and number of deliverables usually make slates counterproductive with social in many formats.
You’ve answered your own question. There are a million versions these days. Assign individual ISCIs to everything. If you’re not slating all masters, at least name files beginning with ISCI code. I’d do it anyway but Traffic usually requires it, even if non-broadcast.
slated and non-slated deliverables for all masters. slated generics. all file names have title and AD-ID in the file name. have a standardized file naming convention.
