Let’s be honest. If you think you know anything after spending two or three years in FDD you are sadly mistaken. You barely know excel.

CEO probably neither. CFO either works but a lot more CAO positions nowadays that auditors filled
Since you didn't specify size of company, you may get some low-value responses.
If we are talking fortune 500, neither alone will set you up well for CEO. Not sure on CFO. You'll either have to get a killer opportunity within the desired company and work your way up through Leadership Rotations or get a HSW / SKBC MBA.
That being said, FDD will set you up a hell of a lot better for a M7 MBA than will Audit.
PwC3: Yes, very common. But you need to focus on schools that are more quant focused (e.g., Booth and not GSB)
Something I saw someone mention before is CFO opportunities can be dependent on regulations as well. E.g. a lot of CPAs ended up becoming CFOs when Sarbanes Oxley was first passed as that was the need at the time.
However, I think a mix of different experiences would be important for a CFO since many different departments/functions end up rolling up to you.

The exposure you get to different companies (and just about every other aspect of the job) is far better in FDD. Imagine that’s valuable for someone looking to the C-suite track

Strickly comparing audit vs FDD, FDD will set you up better but neither can guarantee, a lot of this comes down to luck, opportunity, relationships. CFOs and CEOs come from all walks of life you can’t generalize.
There are people who have become CEOs and CFOs from audit. People quit their jobs, do startups, had internships, etc. it’s really hard to say what gets you there.

all my cfo friends came from audit, none from fdd, not saying thats the rule but at least my experience…
