Hi all - I’m an IT project manager here in the investment and asset management space in Toronto. I am looking at recent job postings for Google Product managers and not sure how I can better align myself. I have experience implementing and supporting SaaS ERP solutions (Yardi, Workday), business systems analysis and product road mapping. I’m an MIS grad and also hold my PMP, DASM and CSM. I’ve tried for years at the big 4, but product managers are a hot field right now. Any advice on pivoting?

Partners/Associates. How does someone balance the fine line between sending follow up networking emails to people who did not respond to the first networking email (sent pre-pandemic)? Having targeted alumni of my schools, I know people are flooded with emails daily (especially partners) and it may have been poor timing as people are busy. I don’t want to become an annoyance, but I do want to try to connect with fellow alums (with hopes of a job at some point (more than 1 year from now)).

I am tired of other team members not pulling their weight and having to deal with more things that on my plate. Any solution? I don’t want to snitch to the partners but am really getting sick of it

Another billing question, this one for the litigators: what are your go-to narratives for all of the time that gets sucked up by dealing with emails on super active cases? I’m newly assigned to a matter that actually requires task billing instead of block billing AND that has tons of email traffic that I have to read—but not necessarily act on—to stay on top of the case.

I’m so so unwell today and feel awful having to tell my team and take some time off.

If you had a deal now targeting signing on your last day at the firm (with the potential for signing to slip into the following week), would you stay through signing if your firm asked? Current midlevel on the deal, if that context is helpful

Anyone at a firm or in a practice group that has lately started to see hours level off a bit, or more success replenishing the ranks with lateral hires? If work leveling off — why do you think that is? People returning to offices or getting out more, so fewer calls and emails before 8am / after 8pm while people are commuting or at dinner / an event? If lateral hiring happening — why? Is your firm just upping signing bonuses or are they more creative than that?

Two offers for rising third year in London - for advisory/securities/M&A at Akin Gump or PE/M&A at Sidley but the latter with retention at 2nd year for 2022 with bump to 4th year (ie back to peer level) based on performance. Thoughts on the firms and offers?
