Just consider the types of projects. Don't work for clients who'd be considered competition. And certainly, don't talk about it unless you have to. I took a job with a large household name company. On the first day, I had to fill out a form about having any other business interests (from HR). It basically asked outright if I had another business. I just said I still had freelance writing clients from time to time. Six months later (to the day), I got an email from HR saying, "ok, just be careful about conflicts of interest." I've continued to consult/freelance for several years since. And frankly, its made me a much better writer. You have to remember--companies can lay you off or otherwise remove you anytime. Your loyalty is to you and you, only. They have no loyalty to you, either. As far as unworkable goes. Some people swear by it. I think it's a race to the bottom on price. Dont work for pennies unless you have no experience. And even then, carefully consider the value exchange.

Make your life easier and just don’t say anything to your full time employer. Otherwise they may not look kindly on it. “Don’t ask, don’t tell” is always the best policy.
