Is Fundrise a promising risk-averse investment ? I’m seeing 8% YoY returns, but it’s unproven through a recession.

I’ve read previous fundrise/real estate crowd sourcing posts in this bowl, but hoping to get thoughts on how safe it is through risky times

Depends on how bad it hits small business, housing, interest rates, and rental demand. If the last recession hit, I wouldn’t want to be in fundrise. If you are looking for 8%, assuming you are using there income model vs growth, there are bonds you can buy that are backed by corps or small bz loans that hover near 5-8%. You wouldn’t have to wait for redemptions and it is much more liquid. Hope this helps

My bad OP I meant large cap and small cap corps.

Why is an 8 percent return attractive?

Has anyone provided any rationale to why this could be true? If I wanted an uncorrected asset to equities I would buy a leveraged bond etf. Far more returns and highly uncorrelated to stocks.

A month ago I gave my boss a formal letter requesting a review of my current job duties and a salary adjustment and title change. I’m performing at a senior level and not being paid for it. She agreed with the argument and submitted request to HR. Last week I asked her for an update and she casually said it will probably take three more months bc HR is so backed up and dropped it. I’m grossly underpaid and getting more tasks daily. What can I do? Can this be retroactive? I’m so fed up.

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty

How much margin is appropriate/recommended on a percentage of portfolio basis? I used to use about 10% but now that we’re in a bit of a correction it’s closer to 20%. I really want to add to positions on these dips but it would only increase the risk given the margin exposure...
