A dog is a 10-15 year commitment. Don't make that commitment if you cannot care for the dog. Assuming you travel 4 days a week again sometime in the next decade, how will you take care of the dog? 4-5 days per week of a kennel service? Do you have a roommate, spouse and/or family who will care for the dog?
Short term option: foster a dog. You get some near term companionship and a trial run of dog ownership, without making a 10 year commitment.
Yes, unless you can commit to taking proper care (includes being around) of a living thing, do not get one

Is this your first dog ever? Did you grow up with dogs? Dogs are truly a human being’s best friend but they do require a lot of sacrifice and work. If you’re ready to commit to that, esp after your city’s lockdown then you should consider getting a dog.
I welcomed my dog into my house and life in July and it has been the best decision of 2020, side from voting for Biden.
Even if the dog has to be home alone for a long time, isn’t that preferable to life/death at a PETA center?
I quit BCG over my dog haha - 🐕 are amazing! It’ll change your life, dooooooo it
Yes, unless you promise to be around for most period of time and not travel or not abandon.

It depends.
I think this would be an excellent time to get a dog, so you have ample amount of time to bond and train while you’re home. I suspect we will be working firm home for the larger part of next year and probably won’t be on the road as much as before, so that helps.
That said, as others have pointed out, you do need to think long-term. What will you do if you get back on the road? I think there are plenty of solid options nowadays, especially in large cities that provided human and dog companionship and physical activity. If you can afford that, then it’s a great option.
I would also consider the type of dog you’re getting. I would not recommend an unknown or dog with issues, for example. I would also stay away from certain breeds all together. Puppies may not be a good idea (could be now since were home if you commit to training).
I have a golden for example. Typical golden personality from a well-respected breeder I know personally. Loves humans. Loves dogs. Well trained and very well adjusted. I have excellent care options for him when I travel which he loves. It works great for us.
Had a rescue pitbull before. Loved that dog but it wouldn’t have worked with him. He was severely abused and had separation anxiety and aggression issues. My SO at the time didn’t travel, so it worked but we both committed to it and knew what we were getting into.
A dog is for life, not just for lockdown
Go for borrowmydoggy (if you’re in the UK) or offer to walk a friend’s dog if you’re not sure you can commit to having one of your own full time
If you couldn't manage having a dog before covid, you shouldn't have one during or after
