Is getting an offer in Google considered “impressive” here? I have some Chinese friends who told me that it’s considered impressive 10-15 years ago but nowadays it’s doesn’t have innovation anymore

Depends on role and location. But also a job is a job, I don’t work to impress friends.

Who cares about impressive? Just accept the offer which allows you to do work you’re happy doing and/or maximizes your compensation.

OP - I am confused. Your original post seemed focused on prestige and ongoing capability to innovate. Your responses since then have focused on working style and level of ownership/self-determination. I think you need to have an honest conversation with yourself about what it is you’re actually optimizing for. Google is a great opportunity for some, less great for others. What are your goals?

In all seriousness OP, of course it's highly impressive to get an offer from Google. Google still innovates like crazy. Your friends are dolts

Your friends are saying this, meanwhile they can’t even get a recruiter call from Google to begin with!

No they have opened their own companies (start ups). Unfortunately this might sound wrong but for software engineers, most Chinese can only get a job in FANG because they can prepare for the interviews by remembering the coding algorithm & they need VISA sponsorship
