This company probably wonders why they can’t hire
I’m actually there are companies out there still hell bent on having in person interviews. I’ve had 2 different jobs since the pandemic and they were all remote. For one it was all Zoom for the other all phone calls. Maybe, you’re getting a sign that it’s not a good company to work for.
Dealing with several company recruiters that don’t have common courtesy to take a minute to close out the file. So disrespectful.
THE HEIGHT OF RUDENESS
Last year I went through three rounds of interviews then didn’t hear a peep. Definitely dodged a bullet if that’s how they recruit. Sounds like you’d be dodging one too
I’ve been recruited for a few c suite roles at smaller companies and then the external recruiter falls off after multiple rounds of interviews. People have gotten lazier and lazier during the pandemic.
Pro
Sadly it is all too common. Sorry to hear that has happened.
Courtesy is too easily forgotten in a recruitment process.
Just amazing how these companies make promises and then ghost you. Seems to be getting worse
Rude and disrespectful is how I perceive this type of behavior as well. If she dislikes personal conversation, a simple text or generic email with the standard “it looks like the management team has decided to move forward with other applicants” message would have been fine.
For some companies it seems so. A member of the Eversheds HR team contacted me but absolutely nothing else since my reply. Very rude and does not give a good impression of firm culture.
That said, recruitment is super busy right now and you have to consider that the person in HR isn't just dealing direct with you; they have to get hold of and co-ordinate with the relevant partners for interviewing etc. So if you replied on Tuesday, I really don't think it's that bad that they hadn't already replied by Thursday. I'd have probably given a week and then followed up.
Also, I'd caution against drawing assumptions and casting aspersions based on age. It has very little to do with professional courtesy or competence.
I hope recruiters read this thread and after they roll their eyes and shake their heads, they pause, think, and do better. As I told one the other day, “my finances are in your hands.” They really have no clue how rejection during the job hunting process can effect you. I don’t take it personally but I do take it professionally.
Faced a lot of ghosting while job hunting. I think it's a norm amongst Indian hrs now.
It’s completely the norm, if you read glassdoor interview reviews most people seem to be having this experience across all sectors.
It’s by no means an excuse, but a lot of companies are desperately trying to hire recruiters which apparently are a commodity now. I just got ghosted by head of talent for a Talent Mgr role. Gave me two different windows to choose from and never replied to my avails 🤷♀️
There is some ghosting for sure, but also a week or two between comms is not abnormal. Recruiting efforts are super strained right now, managing hundreds of applicants, and as others have stated, coordinating the schedules of the hiring committee can be super challenging.
Don't get too hung up on any one opportunity and just keep putting irons in the fire.
Saw the same issue 3 weeks ago. I'm happily employed, so I haven't bothered to reach back out. If they reeeeeeeally wanted to hire talent, they'd make the effort too.
Shake it off. This just happens. Focus on your goals. If you need help redirecting the distraction into action, I'm always happy to help. Reach out to me on LinkedIn if I can be of help. https://www.linkedin.com/in/alanjstein/
I had this happen to me for the agency I’m at now. The in-house recruiter said she’d give me information to prepare for a demonstration-style interview later that week — never heard a peep. Luckily I aced it and got the job, but I let the HR director know that I’d tried getting ahold of the recruiter for several days and the one time I did, she said she’d send the materials shortly and practically hung up on me…
Spoiler alert: she did not send me the materials.
I’ve had this happen to me repeatedly, even a few times at places I’ve done a first-round virtual interview.
