Is going into cyber at a firm like Accenture or Deloitte for a year and then trying to bounce to a tech company immediately after a realistic goal or a bad idea? Is there anything I should keep in mind if I try this?

I would look at capital one. They had a cyber breach and now have a lot of open cyber roles

I tried them before. They are really strict about the work experience requirement but I do see the new positions.

Where are you at now? Expecting one year at a Consulting company to be relevant for Microsoft can be a stretch. However if you have relevant education, and you have projects of interest you could pull it off. But it would probably be along the lines of Program Manager I or other entry roles. Where they generally have pick of the litter out of universities So suggest planning for more than just a year at Accenture

And to clarify do you think consulting experience isn’t valued at Microsoft?

It is realistic but a lot depends on the kind of role you do. Cyber strategy or something non technical like cyber audits won't land you a gig in industry. But something more technical might, with that timeline.

Would several years in cyber strategy land you a role in industry?

You'd get the most out of 2 year imo

Right because the first year will basically just be learning how the business works?

I feel like my kids 1st grade teacher is being too strict, but I'm not sure if this is normal or I'm being sensitive because it's my child. E.g. she gave him 2/10 for his math homework because he doodled on the page, colored in the circle that has the page number, didn't draw the word problem neatly, wrote his last name under the name line, and says some of his numbers aren't legible. All his answers were correct, except one where he forgot to fill in the blank. Is this normal? X-posting

I'm a 6th year attorney in NYC. Strictly defense work; started out with the City Law Dept, did a year and a half of med mal/construction, and for past year and a half have been at a well known defense firm working on high exposure construction accident cases. Contemplating taking a couple interviews at plaintiff's firms to see if there is a good fit. Does anyone have any advice on how approach discussions about compensation and what a market level comp package would or should look like?
