Have anyone of you given the Amazon Online Assessment for MBA summer internship 2023? If so, how long does it take for Amazon to reach out with a decision about next round post OA ?
It’s been 2 weeks and I haven’t heard back anything yet. Looking to see if it’s the same with fellow applicants. Thank you

So far I’ve rarely seen it come up. Occasionally there will be a golf outing, but it’s a lot more rare then I hoped it would be.
Um - I’ve played a lot of golf and sold a lot of work on the golf course. I think of it as a 4 hour workshop where I get the client isolated, pretty free of distractions, and occasionally well hydrated. When that’s not working - I’m playing golf and just building relationships and getting paid well to do it. There are a lot less consultants golfing these days - but that just means I get offered up to play more often when a client wants play or a charity tourney comes up. (pre-COVID).
I think it’s kind of tacky to have business golf in the current social environment because it carries an association with the ‘old boys club’ whether fairly or not.

To hell with that. I’m a golf fiend and am dying to get to a level where I can play with clients as part of my job 😂

These comments sound insane lol. Bad connotations from playing a sport? How soft are we these days
EY 6, they are.

For consulting? Not really Unless you’re trying to make a sale at the MD/Partner level. Lots of top golf for team bonding though
I think it’s becoming outdated especially as the older (primarily white) generation is leaving the workforce. They’re taking their ‘traditions’ with them.
Access is a different question. Golf needs to be more accessible, building on recent progress, but playing and learning golf has real benefits similar to a martial art or yoga. The benefits are not just social or physical but also mental. The power / class / race issues entangled with golf don’t flow from the game itself but from society. There’s a place for golf in a more just and equitable society and the game will be healthier and better when that day comes.
I think it's become very old school.
Those that do golf mostly keep it to themselves. I’m pretty open about it and am sure it doesn’t give the best impression.
This is still a thing in my world, especially when we used to go to big industry or tech events. However, I don’t play & have never felt penalized or like I missed out for skipping. One of our rain-maker partners doesn’t play either, so we usually plan some other event to balance things out. Everyone gets face time doing something they enjoy.

I haven’t used golf as a new sales tool, but I’ve certainly taken current clients (both men and women) out as a way to continue building a relationship over time. Also tennis.
But it’s just something fun to do - could be anything non-work related.
For the big 4 - a partner told me increased scrutiny has made it difficult in terms of relationships with clients whilst still being “independent” (audit business) hence a lot of the older style days out are dying out because they’re kinda hard to hide in expenses. (As opposed to say a dinner with “10” people joining)
I am more talking about the sales perspective at the MD/Partner level. I personally don’t know any that take prospective clients out. Not sure if that is the norm.
KPMG must see some value in it since I believe Partners are given an allowance up to a certain amount for country club initiation expenses (although can be used for other social clubs instead) when admitted to partnership.
Old fashioned social event. Rock climbing is the new thing now.
