Is having a probation period in a company's policy a good thing or a bad thing?

I mean anyways, nobody layoffs in the probation period and the notice period is also less if someone doesn't like the organization. What are your thoughts???

Are company layoffs good or bad for business for the people who's jobs are staying? My company of about 200 people just let 15 people go. Is this a good sign or bad sign? I'm 27F with about 5 years experience at this company. Does this lead to more room for growth at this stage of my career or is this a red flag?

When hired as an athletic coach, does your position state “temporary?” Even if coached at the same school for several years.. It doesn’t make sense to me that coaches are year-to-year. Doesn’t help athletes. Since the CSEA got it approved that classified employees need to go through the same steps as certificated employees, regarding layoffs. LACOE wants to have coaches not be considered classified or certificated, just temporary. With no Union, no voice, no respect, no appreciation, no rights.

So, a spot I made (concept to completion) got shelved due to COVID forcing the client’s marketing plan to change. During that time, my partner and I were laid off. Recently, the spot aired, but the agency credits a different team for the work – me, my parter, and my CDs aren’t listed. Do I ask the agency to correct it? Just throw it in my book with explanation? Just take the L and chalk it up to that being how the industry is?

How do you not take a layoff due to RIF (involuntary reduction) personally? I was told it is not personal. All full time positions except 1 were let go. Contractors on the team still exist and so does the team. I can’t help but wonder whether performance was a factor and it makes me really sad even after a few months! Any examples of how laying off full time employees over contractors helps with cost cutting? Thanks!

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

I was put into PIP in my first company. I believed my manager said that it's only for improvement. I signed it. Later realized it's a termination plan. So I quit the company. But after 5 years I got a call from my First company HR for another role, I was happy to take that opportunity. But later HR called me and said they couldn't proceed for some reason. Am I black listed because of PIP? Please share your insights
