Is is frowned upon to use multiple recruiters?

Think it becomes problematic when you’re using multiple recruiters at the same time and you’re not controlling where each recruiter applies to. Think it might be a red flag for a firm. If not a red flag, only one recruiter can get paid for placing you at the firm anyway.

Might also take away incentive from one recruiter to try and place you if you’re working with multiple. I don’t know this for sure but I suspect this would be an argument against using multiple recruiters.

There might be a case if you’re looking in two separate markets, but even that could get messy.

Ask your recruiter whether they’re ok with you receiving opportunities from other recruiters. Some are cool with it and others will request exclusivity. I think a lot of the best ones will ask for exclusivity because their coverage is so good and they invest a lot in applicants. The recruiter i worked with did, and literally every time I emailed her some email blast from another recruiter with an interesting opportunity, she could say, “Oh, that’s X firm. It was in the lists I sent you last week but on the low priority list because Y.”

How much external marketing do year 4+ associates do? Any business development tips? I’m a 6th year but my partners keep their client relationships very closed off. What do you do when a partner emails and takes you off an assignment, citing your lack of communication about the assignment, in an email thread that doesn’t include your most recent email update about the assignment? Especially when it’s not yet due? I think the email chain suggests the partner missed my most recent email; if so, whatever—it happens. However, was I out of line by defending myself with my omitted email attached to the assignment so it could be handed off?

Does anyone's office use WordPerfect and Word? We merged last year and the original members used WordPerfect and the new people (of which I am one) use Word. The firm is trying to move to all Word, but some of the old partners won't so kind of hard to enforce.

I have an unofficial mentor from another PG, but I’m close with him personally. He’s also on the associates committees and gives me the formal results of my evaluation (which he’s indicated are very good). I was diagnosed with ADHD about a year ago, and treatment and meds have helped a lot with things like organization, procrastination, and attention to detail. I’m still not perfect. I’d like to mention my diagnosis to my mentor, but I’ve always felt like no one takes ADHD seriously. Pros? Cons?

Can anyone recommend good language to add to a resume that highlights hands on case management? I'm going to be accepting an offer to a firm. I have a pre planned trip in May I am going to tell them about and ask if that will be an issue (could be cancelled if it's an issue). Kind of worried new firm might not have Presidents' Day off and worried that two trips will be a turnoff to them.

Left a job in government (prosecution), currently at a mid-size firm. I’m really starting to not only hate law firm life, but the practice of law generally. Is this part of the transition? I left my last job because I was on-call 24/7. Now I’m 24/7 again but due to billable requirements. I have no hobbies, no free time, and only spend about an hour/day with my kids.
