Is it a bad sign if the company I am interviewing with has a lot of openings at all levels in the group I am interested in?

Not always, but it’s fair to ask in a productive way. “Is this part of a new team that’s just being built out” “is this a new position or a backfill of an existing” tells me a lot about expectations for this role

They could have gotten a round of funding or be otherwise expanding their operations. So, by itself, it isn't a bad sign. I'd look on Glassdoor and see if there are a lot of new posts from people who left the company.

How technical does one have for an data Director position?

Very confusing conversations with a number of Large companies on director of data positions. Interviewing they seem to want folks who managed team sizes of 40+ people AND be hands on.

Am I wrong to think this is an oxymoron? Surely how can one delegate to their large team and be hands on? Past few years of consulting I’ve strongly focused on managing large teams and we definitely were discouraged from being hands on tbh

I received an offer Friday for a new role that my mentor referred me to & she’s the director of the team. Its more in line with my career trajectory, fully remote, and the culture seems great. They offered 80k and told me the range is 70-80k and they were excited to offer the top of the budget. It’s a little amount but I was hoping for a min of 80, but really like 82k thinking about the role. Do I bother asking since they gave the disclaimer top of budget or ask bc there’s prob room?

Kindly share your valuable insights.

Additional Posts in Interview Tips

Just me? I don’t get it. I’ve interviewed for 3 large companies for a financial analyst (FP&A) position. Never heard back after 2nd-3rd round but I see all 3 being reposted. These positions at least have 100-200+ applicants. For my last job interview I made it to the 3rd round after 2 rounds and an excel test. Hiring manager even said they had to interview other applicants before coming to a decision (all 3rd round applicants passed excel test) and now none of them are qualified for the job?

I didn’t see the voicemail until the following morning when I was at work and called her back that afternoon when I was out of work. I still haven’t heard from her. Is this normal? I've been working at a government agency for 6 months, helping to stand up a new team. The job involves interacting with real estate developers. One of the developers reached out to recruit me for a similar position that will pay more than $50k my current salary. After an interview this morning, I sent out what was SUPPOSED to be a thank you email. I really should have stepped away from my desk and put my full attention towards it, but instead I rushed through it and am now realizing I didn't even THANK HIM FOR HIS TIME OR THE OPPORTUNITY! Ugh.

Does it come off as entitled as I think it does?

I'm coming to the end of a contract term and being converted to FTE.

The offer was presented to me by the hiring manager and not HR/Recruiter. To me it is a lower base salary offer than expected, so I asked for info on the total compensation package (base, benefits, bonus, stock/rsu, etc.), which I was told about when they took me on under the contract with the intention to convert.

Hiring manager sends me an email with only standard benefits, no bonus, etc. Are these red flags?
