Can you phrase it like “I’ve been doing market research, understanding my value in the marketplace and think I’m worth XYZ based on XYZ factors and backed up by XYZ accomplishments.”
And in fact, recently have had offers that back this up

If you don’t want to resign, you’re taking a risk like you would in Vegas. They could always tell you what you don’t want to hear, and you don’t want to be in that position.
About a decade ago my CCO told me that’s the only way I could get a raise- by showing them that I had another offer at that level. I got the other offer and left
Agree with CW 1: you have to be ok with the possibility that they won’t want to retain you. In my experience, it’s not overtly common for employers to sweeten the pot after they know an employee wants to leave
Best way to approach raises in my experience has been to talk about your value and not numbers. Say you feel you’re contributing more value than you feel your being compensated for. Ask them to consider reevaluating your compensation and it doesn’t have to be just a salary raise. Framing value over dollars has gotten me significant raises in the past because I proved how I was contributing with work
