I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

No issues if you do it right. I think the best way to do it is offer to be eyes and ears for your account leadership at D after you transition. That way you can share intel both ways, and a door becomes wide open if you decide to boomerang back because of the goodwill
Yup, exiting to the client is a massive value prop to the firm, I've seen it happen many times. It benefits the person who has exited because it's in the firm's best interest to position a person they trust in a high visibility high authority client role. Strings can be easily pulled to make that happen assuming your account leadership has relationships with upper ranking client stakeholders
Nah
Are they an audit client? If not, go for it. If so, you need to go through the process. Either way if its the right move for you, go.
Nope, I’m in the advisory practice so this shouldn’t be an issue. Thanks for the insight!
