Another hours post — I’ve been so slow this year. I hate it. I’ve asked for work and pick up projects here and there but the group generally isn’t busy. I’m annualizing at around 1700. New corporate junior associate here. How do you gauge whether you are supposed to finish an assignment over the weekend or if it can wait until Monday? If you get an assignment Friday night, do you just automatically work on it on Saturday or do you ask the partner? How do you ask them (i.e. your exact email response)?

Moving to Chicago to join a BigLaw firm after graduation next year. Coming from a smaller city in the Midwest. Have been told that it’s smart for me to live downtown and near the office - at least for the first few years. Is this still the case? Is it worth the higher rent/mortgage? Or is living outside of the city and commuting the smarter move? For context, I’ve heard that my firm will push for us to be in the office 3-4 days per week once things return to normal - whenever that is.
