Is it a red flag to you if candidate quit the job without anything lined up? I really need a mental break from work but most companies I know they want people start right away. So i wanted to quit and give myself some time to relax before job searching, is it a REALLY BAD IDEA?

It would not be a red flag for me if an applicant left their last job without having a new one in place. There could be many reasons for people to go a job before their job hunt. As long as they left their last job on good terms, I would not think you would have trouble finding a new role at least not for this reason

I agree! There is no rush to start a new job if it is detrimental to you.

I don't see the problem with having a more extended vacation. People, including whoever is hiring you, would actually admire that. I have done it twice, and it was the best decision.

Not a bad idea, assuming you have a good cushion saved in case the job search doesn’t move as quickly as you plan. As far as how it’s viewed by a new company, I don’t foresee this being frowned upon. I think it’s more common for people to take extended time off between roles even when they have an offer in hand. Two week notice to current employer, then a week or two unemployed to reset before starting with new employer is what I often see.

I have enough notice to have a week to decompress and chill before I started my new gig. I honestly had enough time to notice to have 3 weeks off but didn’t

Start your job search now. And they’ll them what your anticipated start would be once you are given the offer. Don’t wait to start a job search…what if it takes your longer than expected to find something

No it is not. You ahve to do what is best for you. If you can explain a break in your resume then you will be fine. And if you can afford to financially take a break then I would do it.

I don't think so. You deserve some break. Don't think too much about it and enjoy your mental break from work.

I want to ask to change my hours from 8am -5pm with an hour lunch(which I rarely take!) To 7:30am - 2:30pm with no lunch. My child is starting kindergarten and I want to pick her up from school and spend evenings with her. I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have been interviewing with a company for three weeks. One zoom call one week one zoom call the following and then finally an on-site meeting including the president and A tour of the facility. At the end of the interview the president said I would hear from them within 24 hours. It has now been two days and I have not heard from the recruiter the HR Director that would be my manager nor anyone else that I’ve interviewed with. Do I send an email to ask about an update?
