Is it acceptable to add completed trainings in the certification section of your LinkedIn profile? Like, who cares if you took a 2 hour leadership course in 2019.

Don’t think it matters if you have a few to many years of experience. Only the experience counts, but for a new grad or a fresher in job market, I think those trainings/ courses add to what they have to offer.

I wouldn't add small stuff, and definitely no continuing Ed type stuff - everyone assumes you are keeping up with that. If there are more substantial leadership courses, I would consider adding those - I'm example I'm in one now that is one full day per month for 9 months.

So I have recently joined a startup in the EV space. It's a SPAC, so it's a crazy ride. I interviewed for a top HR job, but they offered me a second-in-command opportunity, and I took it. Overall, I love it. However, I recently got an opportunity to join crypto-NFT startup as a top HR. My current startup is well funded, sales could be better, but we just acquired a company to help us to progress with them. The leadership team is strong, but a bit on the boomer-ish side of things.

As the job market recovers and tech talent becomes especially sought-after, some job seekers can be at a crossroads.

Fledgling startup or a big, established company: where would you work?

Working at a startup helps you pick up new cross-functional skills, forces you to dig deeper into your reserves, and allows leadership opportunities.

Big companies typically have a more structured path for career growth, offer benefits and perks to employees, and are perceived as more stable.

I have an MHA and 4 years of management experience. I’m currently a manager, but seeking a director level position. Any advice for trying to temper my expectations? I feel like all director level positions have 5 years in the posting, but a lot of my peers with the same experience are already in director level positions. Are they just lucky? Am I jumping the gun? Do I just need to stick it out?

Is it common for average performers to climb the corp ladder by jumping firms every 3-4 years with a promotion?

Hi Everyone,
I hope life is treating you well.
I recently moved to Ottawa from Louisville, Kentucky, and I am looking for an accounting job in Ontario or Quebec. I have work experience in Tax& Finance and an MBA in Accounting. I was wondering if any of you could refer me for an open position in your company ( after we’ve had a chance to talk, of course) or put me in contact with a member of your hiring team.
Please let me know if any of you would be comfortable doing so.

Thanks,
Sarah

Adviced profile is DLP. I have very much interest in Scada sec. Never had a hands on experience tho. But studied well. DLP is not my cup of tea. Pls suggest if I should send email again to 3rd round interviewer asking to let me take in for SCADA sec role. Or can change later internally if required.

How to make a leap from UI/UX into product design? What skills should a PD have? With 5 YOE and I still feel like a junior. I know the basics of testing and conducting workshops, but I don't know how to develop those skills further. My company focuses on UI and I haven't been lucky to land a PD job. Our associates are billing like 130-140 a month and are complaining about being stressed and overworked. The partners for the most part are billing more than associates as a result. But the workload complaints still happen almost constantly. Does selling ourselves as a work-life balance firm attract this type? It's getting harder to make sure the associates feel heard and understood while also being overwhelmed myself with worth that I can't assign to them.

My firm has a collections budget (80% of your billable rate x 1850 hours) and an hourly budget that must be met in order to be eligible for a bonus. The firm cares very little about originations and will reward someone for making their collections over someone who brings in new work. I missed my collection budget due to some odd timing with a client, but originated more than all my peers so no bonus for me. I’ve been at this same mid level firm for 9 years and it’s all I know. Is this normal??
