Winter pays more but it comes with risks and extra precautions like putting chains on the wheels
Drive slow, wow, he's super helpful right? Your company is legally obligated to provide any safety gear that would be recommended by an expert. Of course I don't know what your particular situation is... there is a big difference between safety precautions for inch-thick ice versus a small dusting of frost here and there.
LOL if it wasn't safe to drive in the winter we would all be out of jobs. Seriously though: as long as you aren't in danger of running off the road or skidding into something, it should be fairly safe. If your manager won't help, then talk to his boss about optional safety training for inclement weather. I think it should be required for all drivers, professional or not. Highly recommended
Extra caution is very important in these situations. If you express your concern for safety, it needs to be handled properly, or the company you are working for could be held liable in the case of an accident caused by equipment failure (including their decision to not deploy safety measures on said equipment). Make sure that your manager's boss knows he said this to you. It could be a serious problem for the company and they need to be able to address it properly
