Full suit with no tie okay for an interview?
BCG final round interview in a week. Any tips on what to expect in a partner level conversation?
- how is it different than the round 1 experience?
- how important is the casing component? I'm doing pretty well, but not perfect. Friends have been eating me 8/10, with the need to improve structure and be more top down in my communication. I'm wondering what I can do to improve that in a week and if that will be a deal breaker on interview day?

Why is M&A tax the highest paying service line?
I’d say something vague like “shops similar to this one, a few in-house opportunities.” If you feel compelled you could say something like “I’m only looking at places whose needs align closely with my experience, which is why I’m sitting here today...” and then pivot into a spiel about what you can offer.
It’s honestly none of their business and this seems to me like a type of salary fishing. If they know X agency pays mediocre and you’re interviewing with that agency, then they know their offer will be competitive even if it’s not great.
Thank you, agreed
Just because you get asked frequently, doesn’t mean it’s appropriate. Sounds like none of their business.
Yes, I get asked this frequently.
Yeah I’m hesitant but give them insight that I’m active so they know they’re not the only “suitor.” I wondered if sharing where could be used against me, or if there’s any hr policy/legality around it.
“You guys are literally the first agency I’ve interviewed at during my search”
It's not inappropriate but you definitely can choose howto answer, obviously. It's not asked about salary. It's asked to gauge competition and where you are in the hiring process elsewhere so the team knows how quickly they need to move if they like you etc. All of that said, you're free to answer with as much or as little detail as you choose. Candidates tell us all sorts of appropriate and hilariously inappropriate things - you'd be surprised the stuff various people share sometimes. I agree with the advice above where you can share that you're actively looking and pivot back to what you like about them and their opportunity and how that fits with what you bring as value.
i think it's ok for an outside recruiter to ask so they don't present you where you have already been. but no, i think during a round table interview that is not appropriate.
