So people at the current agency can’t tank the offer with a phone call to the new agency.
Yikes that’s terrifying
Many folks are coached by their new company not to share. If they are following a former manager or co-worker, that exposes a breach of non-compete.
In my experience most people are open about it unless the offer isn’t finalized, they are follower former boss/co-worker there and worried about non-compete, going to a client or they’re feeling particularly superstitious. I’m sure some people are just private but usually it shows up on linked in shortly after anyway
The ink needs to dry before someone goes meddling in your business.
On the contrary. It’s a courtesy to say it. You don’t owe the employer you’re about to leave any information about your future plans.
Many reasons someone wouldn’t want to say it, but I think the main one is, the ad business is a small world, and they don’t want anyone contacting their new employer about them.
You can if you want to, but it's ok if you don't want to. It's your personal decision.
