How have you found mentors outside of your firm?
This is why gift swaps like this should have guidelines/price suggestions! Can you ask whoever is running it?
I grew up poor, so $50 seems like a lot for a random co-worker I don’t really know.
Get some glasses to go with the bottle of wine and you should be ok!
Idk I hate when people gift me glass or mugs because i have a set of everything and really don’t need more junk on my cabinet. I’ll obviously smile and thank the person.
It’s weird there wasn’t a price guideline. When I’ve had office exchanges, the price limit has been $20-30. Some people go over if they want though.
Wouldn't worry too much about it...It's the thought that counts. And if the person who receives a decent bottle of wine is a jerk about it, well then they really need a reality check lol.
Less than $50 On wine is always appropriate because the category is wine/alcohol. Some of y’all just too bougie. 👀😙 #conceitedface
I think it’s fine. If you want to do something extra that’s relatively inexpensive, maybe an aerator. There are some that can be as cheap as $10. But honestly, the bottle of wine is fine.
One year I spend a lot of $ getting thoughtful gifts and I was given a mug and a candle. $50 is fine. They really should have put a limit on it
I mean, $50 is pretty cheap. I think just because your coworkers probably know how much you make I would shoot for $100-$150 dollars. That's just me though
They are lucky they’re getting anything at all lol. We have obligations even if we do make a lot. I would just say put it on a visa gift card so they can spend how they like
Very frustrating if there are no guidelines. I would ask people about past practices.
Are you big law or are you practicing something like consumer bankruptcy? It the latter then $50 is way too much.
I would be grateful if someone even got me a $25 gift card. That's $25 more than I had lol Don't worry too much
Same! I’d be happy to get $5 to Starbucks. I can get a coffee or tea for free!
They should've gave a price range on Secret Santa, it makes it very awkward to shop otherwise, but you'll be fine
Bottle of wine is good. The goal is to be neither Michael Scott nor Phyllis Vance. 😉
