"Need some help to understand and decide my career track."
I just began my career in ZS Associates at an associate level after completing masters from the USA. The reason to choose ZS was because of not having a lot of relevant work experience to land any data engineering/ analytics related job in Big Tech firms. Given that the technology is changing very drastically, and from work life balance perspective in the future, would it be wise to shift into tech companies asap before it's too late?

It honestly depends on where you work. I've worked in places in the past that preferred a longer warning for when you were going to use your PTO, but where I work now just needs a few days heads up to let them know. You should prioritize your mental health though, so if you really feel like your in need of a day off you should take one.

Agree with RA1, depends on your particular situation. Right now I have leeway to plan my own days, but when I was younger, I had to do experiments that other people relied on so I couldn’t just take time off on a whim. I’d say prioritize your mental health though.
I don’t think it’s bad but it’s all about your companies policy. If anything take a sick day
Depend where you work. That works be ok at my company
I'm lucky to work in a really supportive workplace and we have a lot of flexibility. It's not uncommon for us to decide morning of that we really need a day to recover. It's only ever an issue if we have an approaching deadline or important meeting, which we wouldn't call out for unless really sick. Hopefully your workplace is relaxed about it as well.
