Is it better to apply to biglaw directly or use a recruiter? BCG keeps sending me emails and says someone is working on my behalf applying to firms but I’ve not spoken with that person about my goals/experience etc. 15+ year attorney looking to change field of practice from criminal defense/family law to civil lit defense/insurance defense.
BCG is a scam. But real recruiters are great.
Do not use BCG and you should know _specifically_ which firms and roles a recruiter is submitting you to.
15 years is quite senior for biglaw. Do you have a book?
Go through a reputable firm, not BCG, or apply using law school alumni connections from the same school.
No book - but changing practice areas so 15 years is a lot but not in new subject matter….
Never send your resume to BCG, quite frankly several of the big national agencies. I can’t tell you how many unauthorized submissions my candidates have encountered. Take the time to vet a recruiter!!
