Is it better to be an art director or senior designer? Which is higher in regard?

I beg to differ too. On the contrary, some art directors are basically really great designers with higher salaries

like

Exactly.

Different depending on where you work, plays a big part in this.

To me, they’re different roles and my org has them structured in different teams (in the same dept). Art Directors concept, Designers focus on the craft and execution. For example:
For Brand Identity work, Design leads and AD supports in defining content for the brand.
For Campaign, AD (+Copy) leads and Design supports on visualizing or mocking up the ideas.

A lot of places have it so you get promoted into an AD role after sr designer - which has never made any sense to me.

like

Call yourself an Art Director if you love coming up with ideas, lean more in photo/video executions, and want to eventually become a Creative Director and above.

Call yourself a Designer if you obsess over how something looks & feels, can spend hours sifting for the perfect type/color/etc, and enjoy building design systems. Will lead to Design Director and above.

I’m oversimplifying but you get the point

like

Think it all depends on the company. I worked my way up to AD in my 20s at a smaller company. Then had interns get a first job out of school at Leo as an AD. So entry level.

like

Right. It’s tough to distinguish

Art director

Concordo.

Art Directors are basically just Designers without skills

Lol I beg to differ love. I got all the skills 😜😜

I’m new here and seen a ton of positive ads about this app. I am looking to become an financial analyst/scrum master (I have my PSM1 cert).

My current manager isn’t supportive at all on me advancing my career. I have a Finance and Accounting degree along with a PSM1 cert.

When management isn’t supportive of someone’s potential , you can feel the nit picking. Because every since her and I spoke about me advancing, she has been nit picking with me on my work that she once had no problem with.
