Is it better to pay healthcare expenses out of your HSA or save it for retirement health expenses?

There isn't a right answer, but personally my wife and I are saving our HSA for retirement/early retirement healthcare expenses. It's the only triple-tax advantaged account, and you maximize that advantage by keeping the money in there as long as possible. Since we can fully fund our HSA and also cover healthcare costs with current earnings, we let it sit.

Perfect! That’s what I’ve been doing so far but wanted to double check. Thanks all!

I’d say pay out of pocket if you can, because that compounded untaxed growth will be worth more. That does depend on how long until you withdraw tho. Interested to hear others opinions.

Hello! I am putting my feelers out there for a new position, as with my current employer, over the past 2 years, I have been discriminated against for pregnancy/maternity leave. Was told today that my salary is now being cut significantly.

I have my PMP certification and 11 years experience managing projects and events. I am looking for a full time role either remote or hybrid in the greater LA area or St. Louis area. I’m a mom if two, but love what I do!

Thank you for your help!

I’m feeling down. 😢 After 3 failed IVFs with the last one ending in a chemical pregnancy I sought the opinion of a second fertility doctor. She said given my age of 45, my husband and I had the same chances of getting pregnant with another round of IVF with my own eggs as I would naturally and wouldn’t move forward with IVF, only with egg donor. My AMH is 2.6 and FSH was 7.4 just this past month. Should I ignore her and seek a third opinion? Not quite ready to go down the egg donor route yet.

Are there net worth checkpoints at which you should be adjusting your investment strategy (either motivated by taxes or returns)? If so, what are they and why? Not thinking for the super wealthy rather the average 🐟. Disregard the natural progression to less risky assets as you get closer to retirement. Just thinking more in line of "I now have $400k liquid, I should be doing x instead of y." Thanks

I have a mortgage that I would like to pay off ASAP ($250k @ 6% interest). My lender allows me to recast the mortgage if I am at least $5k ahead in my principal payments. I am about $10k ahead now. The mortgage recast fee is $250. If I recast now and continue paying the same amount, am I correct that it will help me pay off the loan faster than if I just keep making the same payments?

Respectfully, if you don't know the difference between a recast and a refi please don't respond 😅

Curious on some stats to help people benchmark:

1. How much did you save in your 20-30s vs 30-40s ($ terms per annum)?

2. When do you expect to retire?

3. What is your target net worth?

4. What does your portfolio look like by asset class?

TIA! :)

Genuine question…
I have about $3M in net worth (retirement accounts, stock market investments, checking and savings account) Additionally, I have two homes about $1.2M in average market worth. Have been thinking about FIRE but at 2.5% rule I’m looking at about $100K in income annually and about $28K from rental income. Age is 48 going to 49. And one kid yet to start school = $200K college expense. What would you suggest possible options can look like for retirement?
