Is it better to risk emergency fund (have about 13k) for investing, or should I leave investing as a separate budget and/or employer 401k plan?

I’m curious because I technically have fulfilled the emergency fund good for 5 months of my monthly spending. But numerically wasn’t sure if I was hitting the bare minimum to start investing more.

Would love some advice - during Covid, I transitioned to a smaller firm that had some great things to offer but has almost zero experience dealing with attorney maternity leave. They agreed to create a policy during the hiring process, and the administrator did come talk to me at some point after my hire to say they had settled on a policy and some paid leave, which is great, but they never verified in writing and the paid period was pretty short (maybe a month or 6 weeks). This may be a stupid question, but when using an offer as leverage for a pay raise at your current job do you need to have the offer in hand and have gone through all the background checks, etc.? As opposed to just a verbal offer or email? I guess the answer is yes because you should be prepared to leave if they say no.

We are currently building the plan for the hybrid model we will follow mid October. (No specific date yet.) We have committed to an A/B model with groups attending MT and Th/F in person, working remotely the other three days. If you have an AB model do you deliver the same content to your students each day, regardless of them being remote or in person? Or is the lesson cycle one that begins on the first day you teach in person for each group? This second model seems complicated.

Not that I am dying to be on the road or at a client site again but I feel like it’s generally a more positive environment at least when I am in the room with my team. I am probably just missing the in-person social interaction even though I am not super chummy with my colleagues.
