I miss baseball.
It's finally here! 🍾🎉 Ok, maybe I'm a little more excited than I should be - but my article, Top 10 Predictors of Federal Employee Job Satisfaction, has been featured in IPMA-HR's HR News Magazine!
The September issue's article is the first in a two-part series that examines OPM's 2019 and 2021 FEVS data, respectively, to predict Federal Employee job satisfaction pre- and post- pandemic.

Agency recruiter 100000000%. Independent recruiter takes a cut of your paycheck. People go to independent recruiters (often) because they have trouble going right to the agency.
Agency recruiter. Nothing wrong with independent recruiters but they’re really just matchmakers, they have no pull. An agency recruiter can go to bat for you internally during the process, and actually have some say in the decision to hire.
To clarify, external recruiters don't take a cut from your paycheck. A ridiculous way to put it. Their fee is part of the recruiting budget for the agency if they can't or won't do their own recruiting or their internal recruiters are swamped
AD1: You’re only partially right. If you go through an external recruiter for freelance, your hourly rate won’t be as high (typically) because the recruiter fee needs to be offset. For full time, I’ve definitely seen offers undercut because a fee was involved. While there’s typically a budget set aside for outside recruiting costs, most agencies will keep that fee in mind during offer/salary negotiations
Agency recruiter for sure, for the reasons already mentioned.
Yes i know how it works but also this is where offer negotiations skills come in. And I definitely was only referring to recruiting for full-time positions. I don't even call staffing agencies that keep a lot of the freelance hourly rate for themselves recruiting
